KR1carbs

How I fitted mine..... I changed the carb top cable adjusters to a smaller type and made up my own cables. I used std KR1 jetting, on a stock motor and found it to be OK. I removed all the internal sound baffling from inside the airbox and the rubber snorkel. It has a std airfilter, original vacuum fuel tap, and stock steel reeds. After mucking about tuning the motor myself I went a little leaner on the needle and primary jet to remove some low speed 4-stroking.
I made nylon spacers to fill up the gap and used RD500 oil injectors (note bore/hole size of injector) You can also see the mod to the bottom of the balancer pipe to allow for the injectors.
MY VERDICT I would hate to go back to the std carbs now, I did not fit mine as a massive performance enhancing thing....I did it to make the bike nicer to ride at lower speeds, especially when its tuned. They have been on the bike a couple of years now, I use it nearly everyday, its done track days, and even longish motorway trips. I love the bike, and use it more than any of my others. The carbs really do 'clean' the engine up, making it a much crisper, nicer bike to ride. |
